The perfect holiday dress – another Storybook Patterns Overture dress

Oh how I love this dress pattern. So many beautiful details, an oh so wearable garment.

IMG_20170902_161645_098.jpgAfter making a successful first Overture dress from the free pattern in Simply Sewing magazine, I very quickly began on the second version, using a beautiful watercolour print cotton lawn.

As you can see in the photos below, it’s already clocked up some air miles…

I love how these two prints clash

The dress is perfect for pairing with tights and trainers for a day of sightseeing

I love an inverted pleat, and even more so if it’s a feature one!

It’s great for warmer climates too (without the tights!)

And is equally perfect for a stroll on the beach

This view best shows some of the techniques involved – a split yoke and top stitching beneath it, a full collar, and a rouleau loop fastening

Can you tell how much I love the back of this?

Within the Overture Pattern there’s also an option to make a top. I’m already looking forward to blogging another version of it soon…
