Ah, Anna Allen and her cult-like patterns, fab reputation, and those puff sleeves of dreams – I just had to make the Anthea Blouse! It’s obvious to me now why it’s such a popular pattern – it’s quick to sew and those sleeves!

I had to have this slightly out there fabric when Ana of Cocowawa patterns shared it on Instagram. It was from Guthrie Ghani & I bought it without a plan. Then the Anthea pattern caught my eye and I knew they’d be a great match.

I usually need an FBA, but reading around and carefully studying other versions online, I figured there was enough ease to get away with it. I think I just managed it, but could perhaps benefit from better button placement or a small FBA.

Based on my measurements I made the straight size 12 and it fits well. The construction was pretty simple with a folded button placket and the neckline finished with bias binding cut from the fabric. The pattern instructions are clear and helpful too.

I can completely understand the hype, and love wearing my Anthea – I’ve made more than one already and have plans for more.

It’s so cute! I like how the big sleeves are gathered at the bottom so they don’t interfere with daily life!
